Photosynthesis
Light reactions
-
Steps
E- go down an electron transport chain (in thylakoid membrane), H+ gradient is established across thylakoid membrane, H+ into thylakoid space
Generate ATP, H+ go from thylakoid space to stroma, use ATP synthase to make ATP
Light enters PSI, transferred to pigment molecules of light harvesting complex of PSI, pigment molecules of reaction chain complex of PSI have electrons excited
H2O split, O2 is released, (e- available from H2O)
-
-
Electrons go to NADP+ and make NADPH, NADP+ is electron acceptor and oxidizing agent
Light E (photon) enter light harvesting complex of PSII, energy transferred to pigment molecules of light harvesting complex
Calvin cycle

Phases
-
Regeneration
-
RuBP - carbon dioxide acceptor, allows cycle to start again
To make 1G3P (1/2 glucose) - use 9ATP, 6NADPH, 3CO2

CAM plants
Stomata open at night, closed during the day
