Pirates: More extravagant and expensive clothes. Caked with dirt and partially wet.
The Chief Pirate was rich and was willing to give his fortune/anything in return of marry Linah
set
Environment of where they lived
“ They had no choice but to live with their uncle in another village if they did not want to be separated.”
lighting
Use of kerosene lamps, common in the time period that the story was set in and would help set an overall environment for the set. The kerosene lamp could also act as the “ray of hope”
Sea: Lighting can be reduced to the point where we can barely see the characters, perhaps using lighting to only show their silhouettes (“ gigantic wave slammed into the sea, sending a surge of ripples all the way to the boat “ & “ swallowing up both sisters and pulling them apart.”)
sound
Using realistic sounds based on the setting of the scene
e.g. When Minah jumps into the sea to save Linah, sounds of crashing waves and screams of fear can be included to further evoke more emotion and help the audience immerse them further into the story.
Characters
Linah
outspoken young lady, and was confident in her actions and beliefs
