Values and Ethics in OD
1) What is Values?
“OD is value-based and more importantly its core values provide the guiding light for both the OD process and its technology. The real identity of the field is reflected in the existence and application of the values it advocates. Without them, OD represents nothing more than a set of techniques.”
Value states what a person believes should happen or should
occur, and they are relatively stable and survive from situation to situation, although they can also change and become more complex, especially as one gains more experience.
Value statements are compiled be one’s value system, which is “an organization of rules learned to make choices and to resolve them conflict ”.
As a system, values help us decide what action to take and how to judge both our actions and also the actions of others.
