Effects of health awareness to sitting posture among tertiary students in HK
Assessment
NMQ(Nordic Musculoskeletal Questionnaire)
Divide the body into 9 parts, ask them for which part they feel pain
and whether that seek for medical help recently
Health awareness test
Use questionnaires to survey respondents’ sitting habits in different places
ergonomics standard guideline
Respondents can receive recommended statistics by inputting their height
Monitor
Height
we give them an adjustable chair and computer monitor
test out the difference comparing to the standard
give out conclusion about their sitting posture
Keyboard
Height
Scoliosis test
by using the scoliosis meter/apps, we can access for any scoliosis diseases
Make-up sitting environment compare test
We give the respondent 4 different chairs and 4 different monitors
Respondent may use it in computer room for one hour
we assess their health awareness by health awareness test
we assess their sitting posture by
we draw conclusions on the relationship of health awareness to sitting environment
High H+ Low E = High P
High H+ High E = High P
Low H+ High E = Low P
Low H+ Low E = Low P
H= health awareness
E= sitting Environment
P= sitting Posture
have back panel/no back panel
non-adjustable height
Give the respondants a low stool and higher stool
we measure the heights by ergonomics standard guideline
Effect on health awareness
Direct effects
low health awareness on maintaining a good sitting posture
form a bad sitting habbit
increase the possibility of having diseases (low back pain)(MSD)(scoliosis)
Indirect effects
awareness on sitting posture
do not notice the sitting ergonomics
form a bad sitting habbit
increase the possibility of having diseases (low back pain)(MSD)
The choice of digital device,
viewing distance to the digital device,
viewing angle of the digital device,
The lighting level
The choice of chair,
e.g. adjustable height, arm rest, back panel
promotional materials
leaflet to promote the awareness for students to maintain a good posture
Target group
The learning environment of tertiary students had mostly been changed to virtual class
using digital device fro a longer time
To have their lessons mostly at home
We noticed different sitting posture problems among our peers
