Changing Relationships in Chapter 1
Ralph
Meets Piggy, doesnt think much of it
He tells Piggy his name but doesnt ask for Piggys name.
Ralph most likely doesnt want to be piggys friend because he sees him as being weak, he makes fun of his name and his asthma
Their relationship gets pretty good when they find the Conch, they have a fun time with it and end up laughingn heaps before they call the other boys.
He meets all the new boys and befriends Jack
He starts ignoring Piggy and goes on the exploration with Jack and Simon
He forgets everything Piggy had done and just forgets about him
Also humiliates piggy by telling everybody his nickname
Jack
Jack enters later in chapter 1
He and Ralph develop a pretty good relationship
But he also makes fun of Piggy.
He goes to explore the island with Ralph and completely ignores Piggy telling him that they dont want him.
Piggy
Meets Ralph, hes pretty happy that hes met someone else. He discusses whats happened
Opens up to Ralph, even telling him the nickname he hated having in school
Piggy is desperate to win friendhsip over Ralph
Piggy is hurt by being excluded from the search and feels really humiliated that Ralph told everyone his nickname.
He is obviously really hurt by this and would probably feel a sense of weakness and betrayal as he was the one that got Ralph to blow into the conch
Him and Ralph have a really good time laughing over the Conch. Right before they call the other boys.
