All members needed to resolve any conflict in a peaceful manner, not by war

Countries will not base their economic policies on self interest, but for the greater good
Improvement of SOL to maintain social stability in Europe, and to solve other issues like drug trafficking
Why was LON so weak?
Inefficient decision making
As it had to be unanimous, it took a long time for decisions to be made as needed to convince everyone
Power of LON
Lack of credibility as it was seen only for "victorious" nations, not an impartial league
Lack of power as LON did not have an armed forces to carry out sanctions
Limited membership
Absence of USA, USSR, Germany
USA was a major power, thus without USA, LON v weak
Germany was blamed- caused tension instead
USSR did not approve of LON
Attitude of the Major Powers
Major powers wanted to adopt policy of appeasement to prevent another war from happening
Though they wanted that, refused to disarm to a certain level. Created distrust
