What makes me frustrated and mad is that my history books and class skipped over that fact. They only mentioned Jews, Gypsies, and other ethnic groups but they never mentioned Deaf or gay/lesbian people being a part of that history. Of course you'd think that I would come to that conclusion but I didn't and its sad to know that History doesn't even care enough to mention those groups of people. Though, I know that they'd probably rather not mention lesbians/gays because of how they think mentioning anything remotely gay could "influence" kids. But as for not mentioned Deaf people? That to me is weird, why wouldn't they, but then I think it comes down to not caring or maybe that superiority thinking? I don't know, but there need to be more representation and inclusion of Deaf people in schools.
