Jared Diamond’s Societal Collapse Theory
Political, economic, social and cultural factors
A society cannot succeed if it has a horrible or corrupted political system because that wouldn't work. A society also cannot succeed if it has a bad economical stand point because they just wont be able to and their economy would begin to shut down. And a society need social and cultural factors to succeed because it defines what the society is really about.
If a society sees that there political system is corrupted or not working well, why wont they do more about it?
Another key factor is a society's political, economical, social, and cultural factors because in order for a society to succeed they need to have a good standing in each one.
Human Impact on Earth
On major way a society can affect their human impact on Earth is by doing things such as deforestation and other such things that negatively affect that society's environment.
One question I have about this is, if a society sees that this is a negative impact, why don't they do more to counter act this problem?
Human Impact on Earth plays a large role in the
societal collapse theory because it is a main factor
of if a society is able to sustain itself.
Relationships with hostile societies
This factor is very important because another society that may be hostile could do things that would make succeeding for the the other society very difficult and may cause it to collapse.
Why don't two society's try more to work out a relationship so that there is no violence between the two and have more peace?
Another key factor would be the relationship that a society has between themselves and another society that is hostile or that they categorize hostile to themselves.
Climate Change
Humans are doing things such as pollution, using non sustainable ways of electricity, using not decomposable materials, and much more which escalates climate change and could cause the collapse of a society to come quicker.
My question is that if society's see that this is going on, which they do, why aren't they doing more to try and find a solution?
Another factor is climate change, and this is very similar to the human impact on earth factor because they are both caused by humans, or at least being sped up by humans.
Relationships with friendly societies
Friendly society's may provide things such as security, food resources, drinking resources, and in many ways have good trade deals which allow for more jobs and commerce.
Since this is a know problem, if a society has the option why don't they build relationships with more than just one other society?
Relationships can play a large role in the collapse of a society because they are being relied on by another society, and if that's taken away, the other society that was relying on them may collapse.
