Jared Diamond's Societal Collapse Theory : :
Climate Change
Furthermore, global warming has lead to an increase in droughts. This could ruin the agriculture and soil in whatever area is experiencing these droughts, which could lead to the fall of society if they don't have the adequate food and water necessary to sustain a civilization.
-
The climate changes naturally, but certain things have made this change erratic and massively harmful. An example of this is the rise of sea levels due to melting glaciers. This could lead to the collapse of a society because the ocean could have overcome the land and leave it unhabitable.
-
Political, economic, social, and cultural factors
To add on, a society may have economic issues that lead them to depression, which ultimately makes them collapse.
-
Political disagreements can lead to the collapse of a society. This is true because political disagreements can lead to not fixing the issue at hand at all or even a civil war.
-
Human impact on Earth
In addition, humans are also the reason why the burning of fossil fuels is such an issue. When fossil fuels are burned, they release gasses such as CO2, Nitrogen, and sulfur oxides. This is a negative impact on the Earth because when these chemicals are released into the air, it causes an increase in air pollution and greenhouse gases.
-
Humans being such an advanced species have caused many major changes to the Earth that has to lead to the collapse of many different societies. One example is deforestation, where humans clear out forests to make way for other things such as agriculture and animal grazing. This human impact on the earth is negative because it can cause soil erosion, irregular climate, and increased greenhouse gas in the atmosphere.
