U5P3 Design Specification - AR
Hardware requirements
Phone / tablet
Camera
Software requirements
The AR app will need to be installed
OS: Android 7/IOS 11 or later
Aims of the product
The intended outcome is for students to be able to see the atomic models of atoms and compounds and the reactions that take place when they come into contact with each other
I would like this app to be able to:
Show a 'hologram' of different elements' atom and compounds structures.
Show reactions when two compounds/elements come into contact
Be able to display the chemical equations for these reactions
This app will hopefully be useful for schools looking for a more interactive way to teach students about science
Financial Plan
This software will be subscription based when fully released so that there is a constant income for the workers.
In the first year I hope to get around 100 schools to use the software so that word can spread about the fun and interactive app for students to learn from
The app will cost £29.99 a month for all of the resources
Quality plan
Every 2 weeks of programming the app will be tested to see if anything works as it should. Every month outside testers will be brought in and have the task to 'break' the app so that we can pinpoint the problem and fix it for the full release
Target Audience
The target audience is students in secondary school in science so it can be any age between 11-18, but if adults wish to use the app they can as well. The income will come from the schools that pay for the subscriptions for the app
Nature of the product
It will be a single-user app as multi-user compatibility will provide no advantage for the app.
The app can be used for people with learning disabilities so that they can visually see what happens in the reactions and learn from those experiences.
The product will require the schools to have phones and/or tablets so that the app can be used as a camera is needed to scan the cards that come with the product.
Content and Resource plan
The app needs: Cards to scan for showing the correct elements, models of lots of different atoms and compound structures, Chemical symbol names for each element and compound
This will all need to be done by August 2022
How will it be created?
They will be made simply in Blender which will allow the programmers to not only create the models but to also animate any reactions with other elements/compounds.
Models will be created in the first 3 months, Animations will another 3 months and then the cards and symbol equations will take up the last 6 months
