Alyssa Villanueva P.7 skeletal
bones
frontal, parietal, occipital, temporal, sphenoide, ethmoid, palatine, zygomatic, lacrimal, nasal, vomer,
Anatomy of long bone
the function allows it to function
spongy bone - reduces the weight of the skeleton
compact bone- tight packed tissue that makes up the wall of the diaphysis
trabeculae - many branching bony plays in the spongy bone
type of bones
irregular
doesn't have a shape (spine)
short
squat cube shaped (make up wrist and angles)
flat
flatend surface ( ribs. breast bone, shoulder blades
Lone
long and thin shape ( wrist, ankles and knee caps)
Bone remodleing
endochondral - form from a hyaline cartilage model
intramembranes - originate within sheet - like layers of connective tissues
Bone fracture repair
com minuted - several breaks between the two large pieces
impacted - one is driven into another bone
spiral - pulled apart and in a twisting motion
green stick - only one side of the bone is broken
oblique - occurs at an angle that isn't 90 degrees
open - one bone breaks through the skin
transverse - occurs straight across the axis of the bone
closed - the bone remains in the skin
Disorders
osteoporosis and osteoarthritis.
movements
bones act with muscles to cause movement of limbs and other body parts
Differences between male and female bones
female
females are smaller in everything except the pelvic area is wider due to women pushing out babies.
male
male body parts are a lot more wider on top but when it comes to the pelvis area it is a lot smaller since their bodies don't have to push out a kids
Joints
functional junctions between the bones
enable a wide variety of body movements bind parts of the body together to make bone growth possible and permits shape change during child birth
classified by movement ; immovable (synarthortic), slightly move able ( amphiarthortic), freely movable ( diarhoritc)
Navicular bone (2 bones)
Cuboid bone (2 bones)
