functions of mangroves
the leaves and branches that fall off will be broken down by bacteria into small particles which will then be eaten by shrimps, crabs and fishes. the larger animals will then eat them (helps with the continuation of the aquatic ecosystem)
serves as a breeding ground for young fishes. their dense network of roots provide the fishes with shelter, thus preventing the larger predators from spotting them. also serves as a nesting site for a variety of birds
