My reaction to Jesus in the reading is that he is the Messiah, the Lord and Son of God, which is why he was able to perform such miracles. All the descriptions given are evident of that. Some of the other characters are interesting, like the bleeding woman who was able to touch Jesus's cloak and be healed, which is quite a blessing. Some other characters I don't like, naturally, like Herod or the Pharisees, who nit-pick and question Jesus over every little detail, such as if he and his followers are fasting, why is he forgiving people's sins, or why he would heal on the Sabbath.
