Skeletal System
Joints
synarthrotic:Immovable
amphiarthrotic:Slightly movable
diarthrotic:Freely movable
Fibrous: composed of dense connective tissue
Cartilaginous:composed of cartilage
Synovial:having a complex structure
Anatomy of the Long Bone
Articular cartilage:(hyaline cartilage) covers the epiphyses
Diaphysis:The shaft of the bone
Periosteum:covers the bone, and is continuous with ligaments and tendons
Medullary Cavity :The diaphysis contains a hollow chamber
Endosteum: It's where themedullary cavity is lined with a thin layer of cells
Bone Marrow:It's where the medullary cavity is filled with a special type of connective tissue
Compact bone:is a very tightly packed tissue, which makes up the wall of the diaphysis
Spongy bone:consists of many branching bony plates called trabeculae
Name of all the Bones
Skull: Carnium and face
Hyoiod: the midline of the neck anteriorly at the base of the mandible and posteriorly at the fourth cervical vertebra
Clavicle: the bone that connects the breastplate (sternum) to the shoulder.
Scaula: Shoulder blade
Sternum: in the middle of the chest
Humerus: the largest bone of the upper extremity and defines the human brachium (arm).
Ribs:a set of twelve paired bones which form the protective 'cage' of the thorax.
Vertebral Column:the spinal cord and the fluid surrounding the spinal cord.
Coxal(Hip) Bone: arge, flattened, irregularly shaped bone
Radius: two bones that make up the forearm
Ulna: one of two bones that make up the forearm
Sacrum: the bottom of the spine
Coccyx: the very bottom portion of the spine.
Carpals: the eight small bones that make up the wrist (or carpus) that connects the hand to the forearm.
Metacarpal: a bone of the part of the hand or forefoot between the carpus and the phalanges
Phalanges(toes and fingers): The bones of the fingers and of the toes.
Femur: thighbone, upper bone of the leg or hind leg.
Patella: a thick flat triangular movable bone that forms the anterior point of the knee and protects the front of the joint
Tibla: The shin, inner and larger of the two bones of the lower leg in vertebrates
Fibula: outer of two bones of the lower leg or hind limb
Tarsal: angular bones that in humans make up the ankle
Metatarsal: the part of the human foot
