Sedimentary: When identifying a sedimentary rock look for the grain size of the mineral which is also known as clastic/chemical composition
Metamorphic: When identifying a metamorphic rock you should look for evidence of if the rock is foliated or non foliated which refers to the repetition of layers on a metamorphic rock
Igneous: When identifying an igneous rock you can look at the crystal size meaning intrusive rocks will have larger crystals than extrusive rocks
