Symptoms of the Subtypes
Type 0: most severe form and begins before birth which is reduced fetal movement between weeks 30 and 36. After birth babies have little movement and difficulties swallowing/breathing
Type I: Werdnig-Hoffman Disease- another severe form. May be present at birth or within first couple of months. Difficulty creating and swallowing, unable to sit without support

Type III: Kugelberg-Welander disease/juvenile. Mild form. Appears between older than 1 year and early adulthood. Are able to stand/walk without help. Typically loose ability to stand/walk later in life.
Type IV and Finkel type: occur in adulthood usually after 30. Start with muscle weakness, tremors and twitching
