ask yourself questions while studying
make connections between different ideas
describe how ideas you are studying apply to personal experience or memories
don't overextend elaborations

write or sketch everything you know throughly, without looking at notes, then go back ad check to see what you've missed
take as many practice tests as you can
flashcards
recall not only words and definitions but main ideas too
Spaced practice
plan study time early for exams
review information from class, but NOT directly after class
use effective study strategies when studying
create small spaces and do a little bit overtime so it all adds up
