The beginnings of Greek Mythology.
The Creation
The Titans
Cronos, the god of harvest, the youngest of the twelve titans, and the leader. Cronos was born from mother earth, Gaea, and Father sky, Uranus, as were the twelve other titans. Seeing as Cronos had overthrown his father before him he would eat his children to protect himself from the chance of being overthrown aswell.
At the beginning there was only chaos, gaping emptiness, then from that emptiness emerged Gaea the earth, Tartarus the underworld, and Eros, love. Then, with love, Gaea and Chaos made every known thing.
The Titanomachy
The Olympians
Hestia is the goddess of the hearth, sister of zeus. Newborn babies had to be carried before the home's hearth before being accepted into the family. Every city had a public hearth dedicated to her. She did not have any distinct personality, and was not part of the myths.
Titanomachy was a direct result of Zeus' rebellious ideas against his father. Once Cronus had expelled the future Olympic gods, Zeus was able to persuade his brothers and sisters to join him in a fight against their father.
Apollo is the god of light, and because he has no darkness in him, he is also the god of truth. He has been considered the most Greek of all the gods. The beautiful music he played with his golden lyre delighted Olympus. He was also the archer-god and the healer, and taught men the art of healing. In the Iliad, he was the mouse god called "the sminthian."
Rhea controlled Cronos' kingdom. Not only was Rhea another daughter of Gaea, but she also was the wife of Cronos. Following in the footsteps of her mother, she planned with her children the overthrow of Cronus and the new age.
Prometheus was the son of Lapetus and the Oceanid Clyemen. Prometheus sided with Zeus during the Titanomachy, however after the war, he quarreled with Zeus over the treatment of the humans. He stole their fire and gifted it to the humans. This resulted in Zues chaining him and sending an eagle to eat his liver everyday.
When all seemed lost for the Olympians, Zeus enlisted the help of mythical creatures which greatly affected the outcome of the Titanomachy. It was no longer the few Olympians versus the vast army of the Titans.
Epimetheus was the brother of Atlas, Prometheus, and Menoetus.
Atlas was the son of Lapetus and the Oceanid Asia. He was the leader of the Titans in their rebellion against Zeus and thus got the punishment of holding the universe on his shoulders.
Athena is the daughter of zeus alone, having no mother. She is the goddess of the city, and protector of the home. Being zeus's favorite chilld she was trusted with the aegis, his buckler, and his weapon, the thunderbolt. In the Iliad she is a battle goddess, and was fierce and ruthless in the defense of the state.

Hecatonshires were incredibly large creatures that had hundreds of hands and fifty heads. Hecatonshires later were tasked with guarding the Titans in their imprisonment.
The Olympians were first assisted by the Cyclops, which were large one eyed humanoids. Zeus freed the Cyclops from their imprisonment and in return received their much needed support in the fight against his father and the rest of the Titans.
From this love, Chaos gave birth to Erebus (Darkness) and Nyx (Night). Erebus slept with his sister, Nyx, and created Aether, the bright upper air, and Hemera, the Day.

At the same time, Gaea gave birth to Uranus, the star sky. Uranus became Gaea's husband, Together they created three sets of children. They created three one-eyed cyclopses, the three hundred-handed Hecatoncheires, and the twelve Titans.

Uranus was a cruel husband and an even worse father. He planned to keep his children trapped and hidden away from everything else. He kept them trapped in Gaea's womb and would not allow them to escape. Gaea plotted the downfall of Uranus with her children. She created a harpe, a powerful sickle, and tried to convince her children to attack Uranus. none of them would besides the youngest Cronos.
Gaea and Cronus had a plan. As soon as Cronus prepared to lie with Gaea, Cronus reached out his hand to castrate him with the sickle. From the blood spilled rose the giants, the Meliae, the Ash Tree Nymphs, and the Erinyes, the furies. From the sea foam produced when his genitals hit the water emerged Aphrodite, the goddess of beauty.
Aphrodite is the goddess of love and beauty. In the Iliad, she is the daughter of zeus and dione. In later poetry though, she was told as having been born from seafoam. She was was the laughing goddess, and without her there was no joy or beauty in the world.
The battle was fought over the course of 10 years in Thessaly. After an indescribable amount of bloodshed, the Olympians came out to be victorious. Zeus was tasked with punishing the Titans.
Cronus became the next ruler and again imprisoned the Cyclopes and the Hecatonchires. He married his sister Rhea, and she bore five children. However, Uranus and Gaea both prophesied that Cronus would also be overthrown by one of his children. To prevent this, Cronus swallowed all of his children right after birth.
When Rhea birthed her sixth son, she fed Cronus a rock rather than the baby. When the baby was born, she left him on the island of Crete to be raised by the nymphs of the island. When the time came, Zeus left Crete and asked the Titaness Metis about a drink that would make him vomit for ages, thus vomiting up his five other children. With the Olympians released from their father's stomach, the Titanomachy was due to start.
As a show of gratitude, the Cyclops crafted powerful weapons for the Olympians. This is how Zeus acquired his famous lighting bolt, and how Poseidon was given his trident.
Ares was he god of war. Son of zeus and hera. Depicted by Homer as cruel and ruthless, and as a coward as well. Not a distinct personality and is part of mythology to only a small extent.
Lady of wild things, huntsman in chief to the gods. Daughter of zeus and leto, twin to apollo. A combination of good and evil, protector of youth, but other times fierce and vengeful. Goddess of three forms; selene, artemis, and hecate.
Hades was the brother of zeus and poseidon. When the three brothers overthrew their father and plit the cosmos among themselves, Hades became god of the underworld and of the dead. He took persephone from earth and made her the queen of the underworld. Being a brutal but just god, hades is not liked as a visitor in on earth and olympus; although he rarely leaves the underworld.
Hephaestus was the god of fire, and may have been the son of zeus and hera. Long ago when he was born, hephaestus was thrown out of heaven because he was deformed and ugly. Homer said that long after being cast out, he eventually became an important figure in olympus. He became the workman and smithy of olympus, and he built dwellings and furniture for the gods.
Helios was the god of the sun. He was the son of Hyperion and Theia. He was the brother of Eos, the god of dawn, and Selene, the god of the moon. He is conflated with Apollo and was also known as Sol.
Hera was zeus’s wife and sister. She was the goddess who protected marriage, and specifically took care of married women. Her main actions in mythology were her vengeful actions against the women that zeus fell in love with, no matter how innocent they were. Despite her sinister actions, hera was whom married women went to for help.
Hermes was the messenger of zeus, and was also the god of trade and commerce. He was swift carrying zeus’s messages, as he had wings on his sandals, hat, and magic wand that allowed him to fly. Hermes was the most common figure in mythology.
Poseidon was brother of zeus and hades. When the three brothers overthrew their father and took control of the cosmos, poseidon became the god of the sea. Being second in power only to zeus, he used his weapon the trident, a three pronged spear, to destroy whatever he wanted.
Zeus was brother of poseidon and hades. When the three brothers overthrew their father, zeus became the god of the sky and his weapon was the great thunderbolt. He was supreme leader and more powerful than all the other gods and goddesses combined. Zeus fell in love with many different women and deceived his wife hera.
