DNA, Genes and Chromosomes
Where can you find the DNA?
The Nucleus of a cell contains Genes
These Gens are Chromosome, which is tidy and has a double helix shape
What is actually DNA?
DNA is Deoxyribonucleic acid. A Compound which is Used to create an organism. Basically DNA contains the instructions for an Organism to take shape.
DNA is filled with compounds such as..
Cytosine
Thymine
Guanine
Adenine
DNA has a nitrogenous base. The 4 bases are below...
These Chromosome contains your DNA!
Difference Between DNA and RNA
These compounds have certain roles in their genes. Some of them are meant for muscles, bones and hormones. If one of them went missing, our body will be not be properly developed.
RNA:
- Single Strand
- Contains Ribose
- Contains Uracil
DNA:
- Double Helix
- Contains Sugar
- Contains Thymine
There are 3 stages in protein synthesis
Transcription, Translation
Transcription
Transcription happen sin the nucleus, the structure unwinds and unzips so that both strands separate. An RNA polymerase will do their job by matching the bases with their coherent pairs for example A = U , G = C.
Translation
Translation is where the RNA leaves from the nucleus and enters the Ribosome. The ribosome then clips on to the RNA, There will be a tRNA attracted to certain bases found in the RNA. That base will be used to make amino acids. Then a chain of amino acids will be used to make proteins.
