Pioneer status
Person eligible

Those in the non-manufacturing industry such as the agricultural, hotel and tourist industries
Companies, partnerships, sole proprietorships, association solely engaged in agriculture
If the application for pioneer status is granted, the persons need to request a pioneer cert. within 24 months, failing which the pioneer status given may be withdrawn

Qualifying activity
Which is carried out by the qualifying company outside an area that is determined as MSC cyber city or cyber center, within the exemption period, or

Which is carried out by the qualifying company within an area that is determined by the MSC cyber city or cyber center, within the extended period

A qualifying company may make written application to the Minister not later than 90 days before the expiry of the exemption period

Capital allowance
The SI income is computed after CA deduction, notwithstanding that a person elects not to claim for CA
Year 1
Any RE shall be carried forward to the first day of the pioneer period, say year 2
During the pioneer period from year 2 to 6, annual allowance notwithstanding that no CA is claimed is computed to reduce the RE

Unabsorbed CA
Shall be carried forward and be deducted from the post-pioneer income of a business relating to the same promoted activity or promoted product from year 7 until it is fully utilised

An existing pioneer company may apply for a separate pioneer status in respect of additional promoted product or promoted activity with a separate production day
