STRUCTURES INVOLVED WHEN EYE RECEIVES LIGHT, eye, ear, human ear, eye2 -…
STRUCTURES INVOLVED WHEN EYE RECEIVES LIGHT
CONJUNCTIVA
receptor of the light
CORNEA
refracts light entering eye
AQUEOUS FLUID
PUPIL
space in the iris that allows light into the eye
LENS
focuses light rays onto the retina
VIRTEOUS BODY
OPTIC DISC
carries electrical impulses to the visual cortex of the brain
RETINA
enables vision
OPTIC NERVE
connects the eye to the brain and carries the electrical impulses formed by the retina to the visual cortex of the brain.
SPECIAL SENSES
STRUCTURES AND PROCESS INVOLVED IN HEARING
1.AURICLE
collects and concentrates sound waves, directs them to the auditory canal
2.AUDITORY CANAL
causing tympanic membrane to vibrate
3.TYMPANIC MEMBRANE
vibrations are transmitted and amplified by the movement of ossicles
4.OSSICLES(malleus,incus,semicircular canal)
the stapes rock to and fro in the oval window, setting up fluid waves in the perilymph of the scala vestibuli
5.COCHLEA DUCT
the pressure is transmitted to the cochlea duct resulting in vibrations of the basilar membrane and stimulation of the auditory receptors
6.VESTIBULOCOCHLEAR NERVE
the nerve impulses generated pass to the brain in the cochlear(auditory)portion of the vestibulocochlear nerve
