what does it set out to do?
The WHO organization sets out to promote health, keep the world safe, and serve the vulnerable and to ensure that a billion more people have universal health coverage, to protect a billion more people from health emergencies, and provide a further billion people with better health and well-being.
How successful is it?
development of an ebola vaccine
aim: WHO aims to prevent Ebola outbreaks by maintaining surveillance for Ebola virus disease and supporting at-risk countries to develop preparedness plans
Since the Outbreak of ebola in 2014 in Africa the WHO has been monitoring Ebola in african countries and around the world.
near-eradication of poilio
Aim: to eradicate polio
Wild poliovirus cases have decreased by over 99% since 1988, from an estimated 350 000 cases in more than 125 endemic countries then to 175 reported cases in 2019.

eradication of smallpox
the disease itself date back to about 3000 years ago, and a vaccine was developed in1 796 for it by Dr. edward jenner however thanks to the WHO intensifying efforts in 1967 they eradicated small pox in just 13 years and officially declared it eradicated from the world in 1980.
