What were the main events?

The war of movement, 1914 – the battle for the
frontiers

Germany needed to avoid a long war on two fronts, given its lack of natural
frontier defences.

The coming war would be waged against France and Russia, both of which had
large forces.

Germany needed to defeat France first. The rapid defeat of France in 1870 gave
the military planners confidence that the same could be achieved now.

German forces would hold the French attacks until the right wing had taken
Paris and moved to attack the French from the rear

the schiefen plan

what was it?

Schlieffen Plan: war plan devised by the German Chief of Staff. It consisted of attacking rapidly, and crossing Belgium, on the western front and then acting against Russia

many results were perfect for the germans, taking into account they had destroyed in war terms austria and france in recent conflicts.

The way in which the Germans attacked Paris changed everything, in short, Germany had triumphed over the French because of the change of the East when attacking, this greatly confused the French, who did not see a better solution than to give in

Next step of the war

This countries used trenches which were very effective in this situation but was very hard to win territory

France and Britain used that strategy against Germany in french territory

To win, forces had to break though the trench lines, then engage with the

enemy, destroy the opposing armies and move through to take key strategic

points to prevent further resistance.

Battle of the Somme

1916 some British and France forces battle against Germany in which the British amassed large quantities of forces in order to battle the Germans in the battle of the Somme.

This battle took place in the 13 km of the front and thousends of shells were fired, at the end it was considered the battle in which the most shells and power were fired. The hardest bombardment happened during this fight

At the end the Allied forces were not able to win because there was a lack in planning and the communication with the generals was very troublesome.

But it did end up helping the North forces break through because the Germans were focused on the North giving a lack of attention to the South
