Data Protection Act 2018
Data Protection Act 2018 controls how individuals personal information is used by organizations, businesses or the government. professionals responsible for using confidential data has to follow strict rules called ‘data protection principles’

It provides confidentiality which allows the employees to draw attention to any issues they believe are inappropriate for the work environment.
Concerned individual wanting to raise attention to a situation that could be a safeguarding violation.

Health and Safety Policy
The Health and Safety policy is a written statement that sets out how an employer ensures that the workplace is a safe environment to work in. This policy includes providing a safe place at work, safe access to work, safe systems of work, safe equipment, safe and fellow competent workers and protection from risks of injury.
Examples of the Health and Safety Policy: employee Health and safety Codes of Practice, Arrangements for Reporting Health and Safety Issues, Emergency/Fire Drill Procedures etc.
Emergency/Fire Drill- Is a stimulated emergency procedure which aims to emulate the processes which would be undertaken in the event of a fire of other similar emergency
COSCHH - This is the law that requires employers to control substances that are hazardous to health. You can prevent or reduce workers exposure to hazardous substances by: finding out what the health hazards are, deciding how to prevent harm to health (risk assessment), providing control measures to reduce harm, making sure they are used, keeping all control measures in good working order etc.
Food Hygiene Regulations- The regulations set out the responsibilities of local authorities when it comes to ensuring that local businesses are handling, preparing and serving food that's safe to eat. this includes actively working with businesses to improve standards, issuing notices, and issuing punishments. Part of the Regulation - there must be an adequate supply of potable (drinking) water. Use potable water in food preparation so that the food is not contaminated. Ice must be made from potable water. It must be made, stored and handled appropriately to protect it from all contamination
Manual Handling - Reduce the amount of twisting, stooping and reaching, avoid lifting from floor level or above shoulder height, especially heavy loads, adjusting storage areas to minimise the need to carry out such movements, consider hw you can minimise carrying distances.
The Health and Safety Policy applies to all businesses. As an employer, or self-employed person, you are responsible for the Health and Safety in your business. Health and Safety laws are there to protect you, your employees and the public from work place dangers. Business owners are legally responsible for health and safety management - meaning they need to always make sure those in their care/ under their supervision are protected from anything that may cause harm.

The principle of confidentiality is about privacy and respecting someone's wishes. It means that professionals shouldn't share personal details about someone with others, unless that person has said they can or it's absolutely necessary.

Confidentiality ensures that information is accessible only to those authorised to have access and is protected throughout its lifecycle. Confidential information may be marked as such or deemed confidential by its nature; for example, it is information that is not available in the public domain.

Failure to protect and secure confidential information may not only lead to the loss of business or clients, but it also unlocks the danger of confidential information being misused to commit illegal activity such as fraud. A key element of confidentiality is that it helps build trust.

safeguarding is protecting the health, wellbeing and human rights of someone that is at risk allowing them to live free from neglect and abuse
Response- the appropriate response is vital and no report should be ignored. ensure that you reassure the person making the concerns is doing the right thing.
Reporting - the incident should be reported to the correct member of staff who would be a safeguarding officer as they are trained to carry out their role correctly and effectively.
Recognition- all staff/ workers should have the ability to recognise behavior that may indicate abuse
