Functions of past Progressive
To focus on the durantion of a past action, not is completion
Two years ago, i was living in Thailand before moving back to Malaysia

To show that one action interrupeted another action in progress in the past. Use simple past for the interrupting action
Samantha was calling her father when i was finishing my work
I was watching TV when she called
While we were having picnic, it started to rain
To refer two actions in progress at the same time in the past. Use past progessive in both clauses
I was studing while he was making dinner
Were you listening while he was talking
Formation of past progressive tense
Affirmative e Negative
was/were + present progressive
Negative: You were not studing when she called
Affirmative: You were studing when she called
Interrogative
Yes/No questions: Move was/were at the beggining of the sentence
Were you lying to me?
Was she working at the factory?
WH - world + was/were + subject + present participle
What were you doing when you broke your leg?
Why was Michael screming when he saw the photo
