Can other people know us better than we know ourselves?
Human Sciences
Sense Perception
Humans use their 5 senses and so they know their own experiences best, but each sense is different based on what God gave you.
EXAMPLE: Tasting some food and someone else liking it, but you do not. They cannot feel what you feel or what you taste.
Everyone has different preferences both physically and just in our minds as well, of what we want. We cannot truly experience another person's life.
The concept of God creating people proves that each person is truly an individual with their own senses, using religion as a crutch to explain this,
Reason
Humans claim to know each other because they spend time with each other and so they feel like they know others better than their own selves, even if they grow up in a community of religion where everyone feels close.
EXAMPLE: Parents saying they know you better than yourself, but they only know the childhood version of you.
They grew up with you but after awhile most teenagers tend to close off.
Teenagers often hide their true selves or children in general, despite spending time with other people they are not always honest.
Ethics
Emotion
Emotion is only something that we feel, and thus only something that we know. No one else can know or fully understand our true emotions, but what about God, an all-knowing being?
EXAMPLE: Religion knows us best because God is constantly with us in Islam.
God is "inside" you at all times and understands you truly. (Counterclaim of sorts)
We grow up with God like we do our parents, but it is on a much more personal level where we feel truly connected to people.
Sense Perception
The way that we interact with the world, like religion, is our own and we do not see things like religion in the same way. The way we perceive things are something that cannot be shared.
EXAMPLE: Body dysmorphia and how other people, God, vs how you see yourself like you're in a funhouse mirror.
People have a perception of you that may not meet your own perception of self.
You feel your own body, you look at it. Even if it is not how others see you, who is to say that their perception is valid?
Theme: Religion
My Response: I believe that no other person that is not yourself can fully comprehend your perspective, feeling, mind, or body.
