Oxides (O 2-)
Example: anatase, brown, metallic 5.5-6 hardness
One house hold item that oxides are found in is detergents. This is something that is an important item to have in any house, but it also something that many companies rely on to sell in the economy. An item like this will never not be in demand.

Halides

Example: Halite, vitreous, colorless, 2 hardness
Halides are naturally found in bodies of water. They can be used for solde paste. This item, again, is something that will continually be in demand as electronics will constantly be in demand.
Sulfides S 2-

Example: platinum, metallic, opaque, gray, gray streak, 4 hardness, fracture hackly
Platinum is used for jewelry. Jewelry will never not be in demand because people everywhere are going to be constantly buying it.
Carbonates CO3

example: calcite, vitreous, 3 hardness, clear color, white streak
Carbonates help with heartburn, as they are in many medicines that do this job. This would also not be in demand, as people will also be in need of medicine.
Silicates (SiO4) 4-
Examples: quartz, almost every color, colorless streak, vitreous
Economic/Household Uses: silicates are used to make cement, which is a very important item that we use in our society. Everywhere in our lives we need cement; when we go to the store, when we pull into our driveways, when we park our cars; we use cement everyday.

Sulfates (SO4 2-)
Example: alum, colorless/white, vitreous, 2-2 and a half
Household uses of sulfates: sulfates are used in household cleaners. This is also a large part of the economic importance of sulfates because products like these will always have a demand, because the act of cleaning will never end.
