perpendicular = two lines are perpendicular if they are at right angles (90 degrees) to each other
We use a small right angles where the lines intersect to show they are 90 degrees to each other

Sometimes we draw part of a line and really mean half of a line. This is a RAY. A ray starts at a point and then goes on forever in one direction.
-
line segment We have seen that we can draw part of a line to mean a line goes on forever. Sometimes we draw part of a line and really mean only the piece, instead of the whole line it is an line segment

parelel lines = two lines are parallel if they will not cross no matter how far they are extended
We use two small arrows to show that the lines are parallel
angles two rays meeting at a point
We draw this by showing two line segments meeting at a point
The rays or segments are called the arms of the angle
The point where the arms intersect is call the vertex.
