Protein Synthesis, DNA ---> Protein - Coggle Diagram
Protein Synthesis
Roles
Transport (of materials in and out of the cell membrane)
Body Defence (Antibodies)
Beuilding Molecules (Muscles)
Enzymes (help catalyse reactions)
Transcription & Translation
Transcription (1) happens in the nucleus - DNA passes info to mRNA
Translation (2) mRNA takes the info to the ribosome in the cytoplasm for PS
DNA inside the nucleus has coded information of base sequences (A C T G ...)
PS happens on the structures called ribosomes which are in the cytoplasm
mRNA helps the DNA molecule to transfer information from the nucleus to the ribosomes so that proteins can be made
DNA ---> Protein
TRANSLATION: mRNA is going to the Ribosome (where PS will actually happen)
The cytoplasm has Ribosomes - Ribosomes are made of ribosomal RNA (rRNA)
The cytoplasm has transfer RNA (tRNA) molecules - carries amino acids on them and bring it to the ribosome
Amino acids join to form proteins in the ribosome
TRANSCRIPTION: after this process, the entire mRNA has copied the info from the DNA and has been formed.
