In IELTS, there are four papers: Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking. There are two different IELTS modules: Academic and General Training. The Speaking and Listening tests are the same in both modules, but the Reading and Writing tests are different.

- Introduction and interview - 4-5 mins
- Individual long turn - 3-4 mins
- Two-way discussion - 4-5 mins
- Name, age, family, studies or work, free time, future plans
- a card about a person, place or event and talk about for 1-2 mins
- talk with the examiner about the previous card - less persona topics
Reading
Three Sections
- Social survival (2 or more texts)
- Training survival (2 texts)
- General reading (1 longer text)
