Why grant writing is important.
Research requires funding and the ability to put together a comprehensive proposal is important in gaining the money needed from funding institutions.
Be sure to understand what the funding organization requires. Does the goal of the funding organization match the nature of the research that you are seeking funding for?

Why is this research important?
Why are you the right person (or team) to conduct this research?
Why have you chosen this funding source?
Is this the appropriate time to conduct this research?
The research proposal should include the following sections.
Abstract
The abstract should be a mini paper or summary of the paper with all of the important aspects included.
Background on the topic.
The issue under research or problem and the statement of need.
State the goal of your proposal.
Plan of action.

Specific goals
Write the specific aim of your paper in a list format for ease of reading.
Background
Gives the reader a bit of perspective on the circumstances surrounding the problem.
Research design
This section describes how you will approach resolving the goals of your proposal.
This can include methodology, what you expect from your experiments, and the meaning behind your research.
Impact of your research and why it is important.
State how your research will impact the community, ecosystems, wildlife, or science as a whole.
Research budget
Keep costs realistic.
Make a detailed lists of potential expenses such as materials and equipment.
