504 Plans: accommodations given to students who may have disabilities (covered by Section 504 in the rehabilitation Act)
IEPs: specifies goals and objectives for students who have disabilities or impairments (covered by IDEA)
Auditory and Visual Needs
Auditory: allow students to use headphones, hearing aids, and sit closer to teacher or speaker or have an interpreter for sign language
Visual: have students sit closer to board, let them use magnifying glasses, have them use glasses, etc.

Cooperative groups: Students at different academic levels work together
Compacting: performing pre assessments to determine knowledge level and whether to move on from topic or not
Independent Contracts: great for students who have IEPs. Contract created for each student that outlines expectations for the school year.

Assess each students reading level at the beginning of year

Flashlight Time: Students are given flashlights and are given 15 minutes out of the day to read in the dark (quiet time)
