Behaviourism
Students are practising, listening and reproducing the knowledge that is learn.

knowledge that is imparted.

Highlights primarily on the intellectual development of the child (Weikart, 1970)
The higher order thinking questions appear at the upper primary school syllabus as students
already master the basic language skill.
Highlight the development of logical thinking and representation of how a child thinks about
oneself and the objects around oneself.

Constructivism
The notion that teachers are the master of the subject is changed and students are no longer
empty vessels that need to be filled.
The curriculum designed should include various forms of discussion and project work to engage the students so that they are motivated to learn things they do not know.
