Public Relations as a Means of Persuasion
The Public and Audiences
In this discipline, the public is understood as any social group with a specific interest and, sometimes, with a specific cultural level.
Internal Public: the social groups that make up the company or institution's organization chart.
External audiences: are all those social groups that have a specific interest that links their members to each other and that are not part of the organization's organization chart.
The Seven Key Factors in Public Relations for Persuading Audiences
Clarity: The message must be written clearly and simply. The meaning must be the same for the receiver as for the transmitter.
Continuity and Consistency: Communication requires an iterative process.
Content: The content of the message must have meaning for the receiver and constitute a revelation for him/her.
Canales de Comunicación: Deberán emplearse los habituales, que son los que el receptor utiliza.
Context: The program has to be adapted to the realities of the local environment. In order to persuade, the context must allow for participation and dialogue.
Audience Capacity: Communication is most effective the less effort is required from the receiver.
Credibility: The communication developed by Public Relations must begin in an atmosphere of credibility and trust.
Internal Public Relations
In every company, within its internal public, affinity groups exist and are formed, which should be taken into account in the public relations program to be developed.
Specific Objectives
That the Participant understands the generalities of Internal Public Relations.
The Participant should analyze ethics as a basis for public relations.
That the Participant masters the classification of the publics of a company and the function of public relations towards them.
That the Participant is able to explain each of the 7 C's of Public Relations.
Ethics, the Basis of Public Relations
It is increasingly difficult to get others interested in what we do. That is why we must be the ones to awaken the attention of our peers to our own work.
