PLASTICS
-
Elastomer
They are hard, resistant and very elastic — stretching easily under force
They' re formed by chains linked laterally and then folded over themselves, like a ball of wool or strtng
Made by vulcanisationi mixing sulphur and rubber, and heating to (60'C.
-
Origin and transformation of plastics,
pending on their origin, we can describe plastics as natural or syntheuc:
Natural plastics are obtained directly from raw vegetable matenals
Sy nthetic plastics are made from compounds extracted from
petroleum, natural gas and carbon.
. Properties of plastics:Strength, elasticity, rigidity and flexibtflty are charactenstics of many plastics.
-
However, there are other properties that are common to the maionty of plastics:
mechanical,acoustic,electrical,thermal,other properties
Ecological properties We can recycle plastics. There are three recycling processes; chemical, mechanic and energetic
Chemical recycling. We apply chemical process too
make new material
Mechanical recyclin .The process has five stages:
- Separation and crushing.
- Floating
- Agglutination.
- Extrusion.
S. Pelletising.
-
Formation techniques When we manufacture plasttc obiects ln Industry, the plastic Is avadable In three different forms, powder, granules and resins.
