Use wood material /fine dust / chips / veneers but go through a process to make into sheets
much more stable
will not warp or bend
come in different thicknesses - 3/6/12/24mm
Plywood
layers of veneer (plies)
layers are glued together at 90 degrees
odd number of layers
this makes it very strong in all directions
MDF (Medium Density Fibreboard)
made from fine particles of timber - mixed with a resin

used for flat pack furniture / shelves etc
safety hazard - dust produced when cutting is harmful - ensure good ventilation etc
blockboard
strips of softwood glued together and faced with hardboard on the outside
very stable - used for worktops and shelves
chipboard
larger particles of timber - mixed with resin
used for boarding - construction
hardboard
wood particles - mixed with resin
like MDF but more dense
used for drawer bottoms / tool walls etc
