Germany was firmly divided into two distinct sections
In May 1949 the seperation between the Communist East & Capitalist West of Germany finally became official
West Germany (The Frech, British & American zones) became known as the Federal Republic Of Germany
East Germany (The Soviet zone) became the German Democratic Republic
The West Gained Respect On The World Stage
The relief brought by the West during the Blockade gained them the respect of not only the German people but the world as a whole
It was considered a Global PR triumph
Berliners were incredibly grateful to the West for their aid during the Blockade
Stalin was viewed as incompetent and brutal
Stalin critisised the West's branding of 'The Berlin Blockade' he argued it was done as a defensive measure
The Blockade prevented food and resources from entering the city, Berliners resented the USSR for this
NATO Was Formed
During the Blockade the West saw war with the USSR as a real possibility so they formed an alliance in case of the outbreak of war
NATO had many members across Europe
