Sale items
Must have been of the original price for 28 consecutive days in the previous 3 months
Prices in multiple stores
Stores that advertise a price must apply it to all of their other stores unless the advert indicates it it is only for a certain area

The service must do what it advertises to do
It applies to ads of any kind including catalogues, oral statements and the Internet

Extra protection to consumers
They cannot restrict consumer rights as set out in law

This means sending goods in the post that we’re not requested

These are goods that are sent to someone without having received an order. They have the right to keep the goods after six months if the sender has not collected them and the consumer has not prevented the firm from collecting the goods
Merchantable Quality
Goods must be over in acceptable standard for the price paid for them
goods sold to consumers must be reasonably durable to do what they are supposed to do even if they are sale items
Cooling off period
With some goods you have a certain amount of time to change your mind and return them

If I consumer returned an item to a shop they cannot be told to contact the manufacturer
The contract is between the seller and the buyer
Shops Signs
Shop signs cannot give the impression that consumers have no rights, such as ‘ no money refunds’ or ‘ goods not exchanged’
The following must appear in all shop signs ‘ this does not affect your statutory rights‘

The CCPC is the state agency responsible for promoting fair competition and protecting the interests of consumers
Their functions are:

Advise the government on how best to ensure fair competition and that the welfare of consumers is protected
Enforce competition and consumer law by investigating suspected breaches
