Neurons - Coggle Diagram

- - - - They carry nerve impulses from the sensory receptors to the spinal cord and brain aka. the CNS.
        
        Sensory neurons convert the information from these receptors into neural impulses.
        
        When they reach the brain, they are translated into sensations like vision, heat and pain.
        
        Not all sensory information travels as far as the brain, some reflex actions just go to the spinal cord so the response is quick without delay of sending information all the way to the brain.
      - Receptors to CNS.
    - - Lie between sensory and motor neurons.
        
        They allow sensory and motor neurons to communicate with each other.
        
        They lie wholly within the brain and spinal cord.
      - Piggy in the middle - bridge between sensory to motor.
    - - Located in the CNS. Project their axons outside the CNS and both directly and indirectly control muscles.
        
        When stimulated they release neurotransmitters.
        
        When the axon of a motor neuron fires, the muscle with which it has formed synapse will contract.
        
        Strength of the contraction depends on the rate of firing.
        
        Muscular relaxation - inhibition of motor neuron.
      - CNS to effectors which are muscles.
