Numbness and tingling in the hand due to pinched nerve

Nursing intervention
Administer cortisone to relive pain and swelling
Refer for carpal tunnel release surgery
Provide bracing during sleep to reduce nerve pinching
Encourage hand elevation to above heart post operatively
Massage wrist palms and hand back to promote circulation
Encourage movement of fingers to reduce swelling
Encourage exercises like shoulder rotation to ease nerve compression
Provide wrist support like splints at night to avoid nerve pinching
Provide splits for wrist support during the night
Cover plaster of Paris during bed bath to avoid water entering
Provide adequate rest
care for traction by doing neurovascular assesements
