Police
Property
Theft of personal belongings, while on duty a member of the public could take personal belongings from the officer such as their work bag and run off with it.
Criminal damage, this is when someone intends to destroy property that belongs to another which the criminal would be guilty of an offence for the criminal damage caused.
Damage of personal belongings, while on duty someone could damage a police officer's phone such as smash it on the floor in anger.
Buildings, frustrated people for example members of the public throwing objects at the police station as they are angry that they are in trouble with the police department.
Damage of police property, this is where a member of the public could damage police property intentionally while on duty.
Persons (Officers)
Loss of life, an officer is on duty, a member of the public such as the criminal could kill the officer in a violent way,
Assault, mainly the common assault is physical, such as a criminal may kick an officer in the leg while trying to arrest them just because they are angry, that is physical assault to a police officer.
Threats
Trauma, when police are on call they may experience traumatic events such as someone getting stabbed in the street, this will leave them with PTSD.
Injury
When officers are on duty, members of the public could target officers and punch them so this could give them concussion on duty.
Threats, officers could get verbal threats such as inappropriate language or even swearing. Also there could be physical threats such as threatening to hit an officer with an object.
Premises
Arson, people could set fire to a certain location such as a shopping centre which is very dangerous to everyone in the shopping centre.
Security breach, this is when confidential information has been hacked and it has gotten out.
Terror attack, for example terrorists could go to a certain location and set bombs off on the premises that has now killed many people that were on the premises at the time such as a college terrorist attack, they are doing this to fulfil their wishes.
Cyber attacks-
Ransomware is a type of malware that encrypts files on a device, making them unusable for the files and the systems that rely on them. Then in exchange for decryption, malicious actors want a ransom. An example of this in the police force is that it could be used to make information that the police need to function unusable which means that there could be certain information they need that they cannot access.
A hacker getting unauthorised access to a company's computer systems with the goal of stealing sensitive consumer information is often the cause of data breaches. A way this could affect the police force is because in 2020 the UK police force experienced more than 2000 data breaches. In these data breaches the people who done them could have got sensitive information and breached data protection, such as when the police force was fined 160,000 after it misplaced unencrypted DVD's containing a highly sensitive video recording of an interview with a sex abuse victim.
Terrorism- This is the unlawful use of violence and intimidation, especially against civilians, in the pursuit of political aims. A way this would affect the police force is if there is a terrorist attack in London then the police force would have to respond with armed police to the location to either eliminate the threat or arrest the terrorist and this would result in the need for a large police response to bring this situation under control and this would affect how the police force would plan for things after the attack because they would need to create plans for if it was to happen again.
Protest groups are a group of people who take to the streets to use their freedom of speech to protest against something or to make a point, in these protests they can either be peaceful or violent, for this reason the police have to always be on alert when they are attending a protest because they need to try to keep it peaceful, so that they are able to keep the police presence at the protest to as minimal as possible.
Criminals- A criminal is someone who breaks the law by doing actions that go against the law, the reason that the police force would be affected by this is that the more people who break the law, the more people the police have to deal with meaning that the police would be under pressure more when it comes to arresting criminals and this would take more money for the police force to do.
Foreign state aggressors- This could involve a conflict between two nations or if the British army take on the terrorists and if someone who is in the army refuse to participate in the battle or conflict when they are called upon could bring the armed forces into disrepute and the person would have to be arrested by the military police and charged for his offence. This would affect affect the military police because they would have to gain evidence and enough reason to believe that the person has broken the military law under which he can be arrested and charged for breaking the law.
Foreign intelligence services- this would be anything from a spy in the country, this is because a foreign intelligence service might want to get information on the country and this is against the law, so a way this would affect the police force is that once they have found evidence of a spy, they would have to carry out investigations into the intentions of the spy and establish a good case for them to arrest the spy also taking them to court. This would then take the detectives time and money for an investigation, it would take time and money away from other investigations meaning the police force would have to either take funding from other areas or cut in certain departments to fund the investigation.
