- - - - Flash Floods
        
        Exceptionally heavy rainfall over a short period of time
        
        These types of flood often occur in dry areas where there is not enough soil/vegetation to allow rainwater to infiltrate the ground
        
        Thus most rainwater that falls onto the ground becomes surface runoff which quickly floods low-lying areas.
      - River Floods
        
        Definition : Caused by sustained heavy rainfall or melt water produced when snow and ice start to melt in the spring season.
        
        Large amounts of rainwater and meltwater enter streams and tributaries
        
        The water level in the rivers rises rapidly and it eventually overflows the banks, flooding the surrounding areas
