CONSEQUENCES OF THE TECTONIC PLATE MOVEMENT
MAGMATISM
Magmas are generated adjacent to convergent and divergent plate boundaries as a direct result of the motion of plates.
They can surface in two ways:
slowly(plutonic rocks)
violently:then volcans are formed
DEFORMATION IN ROCK
The deformation of rocks happens when the intensity of the effort, is bigger than the internal resistance of the rock.
WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THAT?
The rocks between the two continental blocks bend and break under compression efforts.
Deformations in rocks can be of 3 types:
Plastic deformations
Breakable deformation (Fractures)
Elastic deformations
METAMORPHISM
These changes occur for 3 changes:
Pressure
Temperature
The fitration of water that contains dissolved substances
In metamorphism, rocks do not melt, they only transform, becoming metamorphic rocks.
The set of physical and chemical changes that crustal rocks undergo.
PRINCIPAL CONSEQUENCES
High pressures and temperatures are generated at the boundaries.
