SYNTHETIC FIBRES
Rayon
Artificial silk, made from a chemical treatment of wood pulp.
mixed with cotton to make bed sheets, and mixed with wool to make carpets.
Nylon
Made in 1931. it was prepared from coal, water and air. it is strong, elastic and durable.
used for making parachutes, hopes for rock climbing , socks, tents etc.
Polyester
it is made up of repeating units of a fruit smelling chemical called ester. Terylene and PET [ polyethylene terephthalate] are familiar forms of polyester
Used for making bottles , utensils, wires and many useful things
Acrylic

used for making sweaters, blankets etc.

Fibres - Thin, long thread like structures which are woven or spun into yarns.
Natural fibres - Fibres that are originated from nature. Eg. cotton, wool, jute , silk.
Synthetic fibres - Fibres that are made by man in factories using different chemicals like ester, ethene etc.
eg. polyesters, polyethene , acrylic etc.
