        All this while, he has been taking advantage of Antonio's generosity, he is really genuine, or does he want wealth and love?
      - Infamous of wanting to increase his wealth, thinking that he can spend more money in hopes of winning back what he lost

        Shows his naivety, he does not know how to clear his debts
        
        Empahsizes that he blames his youth and innocence
        
        in hopes that Antonio will treat him like a child, ignore responsibilities for his demand, and spend more money on him
      - Wishes to restore money by marrying an heiress, but needs to borrow money from Antonio to please Portia when he courts her
      - Does not seem sincere about his relationship with Antonio, he doesn't help Antonio, merely uses words to acknowledge his efforts

        Bassanio’s claim of deep love of Antonio can be read as superficial – he has not undertaken any form of action except from his dramatic rhetoric in order to declare his love for Antonio
