CPU Performance
Clock
Each clock tick is one processed instruction. Most CPU's can process 3 billion instructions per second. "Over-clocked" CPU's run faster, which means they need more cooling (fans).
Cache
A very small but fast memory. It is a temporary storage between the CPU and RAM. It can be both in the CPU, or outside, however it always has an internal cache
Cores
Modern CPU's are divided into cores. Each core is a complete processing unit and contains CPU registers. Multiple cores mean more more tasks can be carried out. This is known us multi-tasking.
