Basic Resuscitation - Coggle Diagram

- - - - A brief period of seizure-like movements may occur at the beginning of cardiac arrest. Assess the person after the seizure has stopped: if unresponsive and with absent or abnormal breathing, start CPR.
        
        Recognizing cardiac arrest after a seizure episode when the victim remains numb with abnormal breathing is important to prevent delayed CPR.
  - - - A person with a mobile phone should dial the EMS number, activate the speakerphone or other hands-free option on the mobile phone, and immediately begin dispatcher-assisted CPR.
      - If you are a lone rescuer and have to drop off a victim to alert EMS, first activate EMS and then initiate CPR
  - - - Apply compressions to the lower half of the sternum ("in the center of the chest") to a depth of at least 5 cm but not more than 6 cm and at a speed of 100 120 min 1 with as few interruptions as possible.
        
        Allow the chest to fully recede after each compression; do not lean on the chest.
      - Perform chest compressions on a firm surface whenever possible.
  - - - Pocket mask ventilation offers advantages in alternate rescuer positions and situations when the rescuer's movement is restricted, once secured to the face, the use of a pocket mask could facilitate hyperextension of the neck and therefore may improve ventilation during resuscitation in difficult conditions.
  - - - If there is more than one rescuer, continue CPR while the electrodes are being attached.
        
        Follow the spoken (and / or visual) prompts from the AED.
        
        Make sure no one touches the victim while the AED is analyzing the heart rhythm.
        
        If a shock is indicated, make sure no one touches the victim.
        
        If no shock is indicated, immediately restart CPR with 30 compressions.
        
        There will be a CPR period (commonly 2 minutes) and the AED requests a new CPR pause for the analysis rhythm.
        
        Do not continue chest compression during delivery shock.
        
        If the rhythm is ventricular fibrillation (or ventricular tachycardia), an audible or audible and visual prompt is given to the operator to deliver a direct current electrical shock.
        
        In large-breasted individuals, it is reasonable to place the left electrode pad lateral to or under the left breast, avoiding breast tissue.
        
        There is insufficient evidence to recommend a specific electrode size for optimal external defibrillation in adults. However, it is reasonable to use a buffer size greater than 8 cm.

        Make use of personal protective equipment, evaluating breathing without approaching the victim's nose and mouth, and recognize ventilation as a potential aerosol-generating procedure with a higher risk of disease transmission.
  - - - It can affect all ages, but is most common in young children and older adults. Victims are initially conscious and responsive, so there are often opportunities for intervention, which can save lives. For every case that leads to hospitalization or death, there are many more that are effectively treated by first aid in the community.
        
        A foreign body can lodge in the upper airway, trachea, or lower part. respiratory tract (bronchi and bronchioles). Airway obstruction can be partial or complete.
        
        In partial airway obstruction, air can still pass around the obstruction, allowing some ventilation and the ability to cough.
        
        Complete airway obstruction occurs when air cannot pass around the obstruction. If left untreated, complete airway obstruction will quickly cause hypoxia, unconsciousness, and cardiac arrest within a few minutes.
        
        A person who is conscious and capable of coughing should be encouraged to do so as coughing creates high and sustained pressures in the airways and can expel the foreign body.
        
        Aggressive Back Treatment Strikes, abdominal thrusts, and chest compressions carry the risk of injury and may even worsen the obstruction. These procedures, particularly abdominal compressions, are reserved for victims who have signs of severe airway obstruction, such as an inability to cough or fatigue.
        
        If the cough fails to clear the obstruction or the victim begins to show signs of fatigue, up to 5 blows are given to the back. If they are ineffective, give up to 5 pushes. If both interventions are unsuccessful, continue 5 blows to the back followed by 5 abdominal thrusts.
        
        Unconscious victim with foreign body obstruction of the airway At any time, the victim becomes unconscious with abnormal behavior. breathing, chest compressions are started according to the standard BLS resuscitation algorithm and continued until the victim recovers and begins to breathe normally, or emergency services arrive.
