Defination
It is the insufficient of vitamin B12 in the body that leads to the reduction of healthy red blood cells and also nervous system is affected in the way of thinking and memory loss.
Signs and symptoms
Weakness, fatigue and lightheaded

Nerve problems- parastesia, muscle weakness and problems with walking.

Mental problems such as memory loss, depression and behavioral changes.
Risk factors

Patients with pernicious anaemia, that makes it hard for the body to absorb vitamin B12.
Patients with chrohns and celiac disease as they affect the small intestine which bacteria or parasites growth.

Taking medications that interfere with absorption of vitamin B12 in the body, medication such as lansoprazole, also diabetic medications such as metformin
Management
Well balanced diet is advisable that will provide nutrients is rich in folic acid,iron and vitamin c
For patients with severe symptoms of vitamin B12 deficiency they must receive five to seven intramuscular injections (hydroxocobalamin) within a week then after they may take one injection(hydroxocobolamin) in 2 -3 months.
