Cardiac Arrest Angina Pectoris Myocardial Infraction
CAUSE (CAD):
-Reduced oxygen to the myocardium due to blockage in artery, from plaque build up.
-Stress anxiety
SYMPTOMS:
-Chest pain
-Pain persists for about 3-5 min, but vitals are stable.
TREATMENT:
P
-upright or semi-reclining
A/B
-admin. O2
C
-monitor pulse & BP (if drops and pt. is unconscious conduct CPR)
D
-nitroglycerin 0.4mg every 5min up to 3X over 15min
If pt. has history and pain subsides, you may continue Tx.
*If pt has never had history or symptoms before, discontinue treatment even if the pain subsides.
CAUSE (AMI):
-occlusion of coronary artery
-plaque buildup cracks in artery
-plaque is sticky, platelets stick causing complete blockage
SYMPTOMS:
severe chest pain
radiates to jaw and neck
Not responding to NGT
Palpitations
Dyspnea
Diaphoresis
TREATMENT:
P
-upright or semi-reclining
A/B
-administer oxygen
C
-monitor pulse/BP, falls unconscious
*CPR
MONA = MORPHINE
NONA = N2O-O2
OXYGEN
NITROGLYCERINE
ASPRIN
P
-supine in chair move to floor if necessary (remember board if in clinic)
ABC
-BLS/CPR
AED
