Causes
Hemorrhaging of cerebral artery
Obstruction causing ischemia of brain tissue
PABCD
Monitor pulse
Administer oxygen
Upright, if unconscious then supine position
Seek medical assistant
Symptoms
Dizziness
Altered consciousness
Difficulty walking
Difficulty seeing
Sudden severe headache
Difficulty walking or loss of balance
Numbness on one side of body
Transient ischemic Attack (TIA)
Stroke like symptoms lasting minutes to an hour; fully resolved after 24 hours
Often warning signs that patient is at increased risk for more serious stroke
